Itinerary:

Day 1: Chengdu Arrival

Airport or railway station pick up and check in hotel.

Ni Hao! Welcome to Chengdu, the hometown of Giant Pandas. Upon arrival, your guide will meet and escort you to your hotel in Chengdu downtown in a private vehicle. The rest of today is free to explore the leisure city on your own. In the evening, you can enjoy a delicious dinner of Sichuan cuisine at a local restaurant. A hot pot meal with spicy broth and fresh ingredients is the perfect way to kick off your Chengdu food adventure.

Arrival Ideas: At present, there are some international flights and many domestic flights to and from Chengdu, such as Beijing (3hrs), Shanghai (3.5hrs), Guangzhou (2.5hrs), Guilin (1hr & 50mins), etc. Also, you can arrive at Chengdu city by taking a high speed train from Chongqing (1.5-2.5hrs), Changsha (3.5-5hrs), Wuhan (4-5hrs), and so on.

Day 2: Chengdu

Today's highlights: Giant Pandas, Wuhou Shrine, Jinli Old Street

This morning you will make a stirring visit to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, which is not only the most important panda scientific research center, but also dwelling home to more than 100 Giant Pandas. Walk at leisure through the bamboo framed paths, and closely observe giant pandas of different ages eating bamboos, playing with each other, tumbling, climbing trees, etc. Don't miss the chance to visit the most adorable panda cubs in the panda kindergartens. If you are lucky, you may be able to see the precious panda babies in the nursery rooms. There is also a very informative Panda Museum where you can learn more scientific facts about Giant Pandas.

Leaving the panda center, you will be taken to the famous Wuhou Shrine, the most well-known Three Kingdoms cultural site in Chengdu. Admire the exquisite ancient architecture, soak in the reverent atmosphere, and wander along the quiet paths surrounded by cypress trees. Don't forget to snap photos at the iconic red wall with bamboo backdrop, a classic spot for Chengdu travel shots. Adjacent to the shrine is Jinli Ancient Street, a lively pedestrian street full of traditional Sichuan style. After lunch, you can stroll along the stone-paved lanes, taste local snacks, browse handicraft shops and watch folk performances. As night falls, red lanterns light up the whole street, creating a magical old Chengdu atmosphere.

Recommended Optional Evening Activities: 1) Enjoy a delicious dinner of Sichuan cuisine (or hot pot) at a local restaurant near Jinli; 2) Watch a wonderful performance of Sichuan Opera which includes folk opera, face changing, fire spitting, rolling lights, and other delightful entertainment (usually performs during 20:00~21:30).

Day 3: Chengdu & Departure

Today's highlights: Kuanzhai Alleys, Renmin Park, Chunxi Road

After breakfast, you will first visit Kuanzhai Alleys, a well-preserved complex of traditional Chengdu courtyard houses made up of three parallel lanes: Kuan Alley, Zhai Alley and Jing Alley. Wander through the lanes to experience the old Chengdu lifestyle, visit boutique shops and art galleries, or stop by a tea house to enjoy a cup of tea in a traditional courtyard.

Next, you will head to Renmin Park, a favorite leisure spot for local Chengdu residents. Sit down at a traditional tea house, order a pot of Chinese tea, chat with friends or just watch locals enjoying their daily life: playing mahjong, dancing, having neck massages or ear cleaning. This is the best place to experience the famous slow-paced life of Chengdu.

Later, you will visit Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li, the most popular commercial district in Chengdu. Don't miss the chance to take photos with the iconic IFS Giant Panda statue, and explore the blend of modern shopping malls and the ancient Daci Temple. You can spend free time shopping, grabbing coffee or trying snacks in the area.

After finishing all the sightseeing, your guide will escort you to the airport or railway station according to your travel schedule, marking the end of your wonderful Chengdu trip.

Optional Activity: Before departure, you can stop by a local market to buy Chengdu specialties like spicy rabbit heads, hot pot base or Sichuan peppercorns as souvenirs for friends and family.
