Culture travel inside the Hutongs of Beijing
In the modern city of Beijing lies a place where you can still see the authentic old Beijing. The place is known as Hutongs Area where most local residents still live in traditional courtyard-styled houses dotted along those old hutongs.
You will go around those existent hutongs on foot for an in-depth explore to the life of local residents. You will visit local families, eat home cooked lunch and learn how to make Dumplings and some Beijing folk arts (Paper-cutting, Taiji, Chinese Calligraphy and Chinese Knot Making etc.), having an authentic picture of Beijing.
Local Family Visit and Dumpling Making Experience
Visit Hutongs (the old alleyways) nearby the Drum Tower and go around those existent hutongs on foot for an in-depth explore to the life of local residents. Visit a local family in one of the traditional courtyard houses. Chat with the families about their life, learn to make Chinese dumplings (jiaozi), and enjoy the meal (dumplings and other dishes) with them.
Chinese Calligraphy Learning
In this class, you will be introduced to some basic skills in painting and taught to draw a simple picture under the guidance of our teacher. Drawing tools like brush, ink, paper, and ink-grind are provided. During the class you will get an introduction to the history and classification of calligraphy, demonstration by the teacher, and learn some easy Chinese characters.
Make a Chinese Paper Cutting
The Chinese paper cutting is a national handicraft with profound cultural connotations. It is an opportunity to make a traditional Chinese handicraft in the Hutong area. It is easy to learn and only requires a pair of scissors and paper, but a good paper cutter requires a great deal of skill in cutting and paper selection.
During the class, you will be given an introduction of the history of Chinese paper cutting, demonstration of the method of making a paper cutting, and your tutor will teach you how to make a paper cutting.
Chinese Knot Making
Chinese knot is a national handicraft with a long history and profound cultural connotations. Each knot is woven out of one single silk thread, and given a name according to its shape and meaning. Our teacher will share some of these skills and you can take home the fruit of your labor.
During the class you will be given an introduction to the history of Chinese knotting making, demonstration by the teacher and learn how to make a Chinese knotting.
Shaolin Temple and the Chinese Kungfu learning
Luoyang has the world heritage site Longmen Grottoes and the destination to visit the famous Shaolin Temple, which is well known for the Chinese Kungfu. Shaolin Temple is noted as the birthplace of Shaolin Martial Art. Students will have the chance to enjoy the Chinese Kungfu performance and take part in the lesson of Chinese Kungfu Learning.
Zhangjiajie: The Avatar Place with Grand Canyon and the Glass Bridge
The Hallelujah Mountains in the movie Avatar were inspired by Heavenly Pillar in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. It is the first authorized national forest park in China, featured by its unique hills, queer ridges and peaks, tranquil valleys, clear streams, abundant fauna and flora and hospitable climate. Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, built with 99 sheets of glass, is 470 yards (430 meters) long, 6.6 yards (6 meters) wide and 985 feet (300 meters) high, the longest and highest glass bridge in the world.
Yangshuo Landscape, Longsheng Rice Terraces and Sanjiang Minority Culture
The town of Yangshuo lies in the shadow of stunning karst formations along the Li River. You will be transferred through the countryside with all of its eye-catching views during the day.
The Rice Terraces in Longsheng show a picture of great momentum and imposing beauty, being reputed as having no match in the world. The rice terraces are built into the hillsides and look like great steps cut into the slopes as they wind around the mountainsides.
Sanjiang is a region traditionally inhabited by the Dong Minority nationality people. The highlights in Sanjiang for visitors include Sanjiang Drum Tower, the Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge and the Mapang Drum tower, which is the soul of Dong ethnic villages.
Hang Zhou and the Hong Cun Village
Hang Zhou is one of the Seven Ancient Capital Cities, with a history of about 2,500 years. It boasts enchanting natural scenery: West Lake, the symbol of of he city, is considered to be one of the most beautiful sights in China. Hang Zhou also offers a variety of traditional cultures, such as tea, traditional Chinese medicine, and Chinese silk.
Hong cun Village is one of China’s most beautiful ancient villages — a charming ancient village with a history of over 800 years. The village will show you the original Hui style architecture (a type of traditional Chinese architecture).
