Day 1 Shangri-La to Feilai Temple – Prelude to Meili Snow Mountain
Depart from Shangri-La in the morning and drive along National Highway G214 toward Deqin Feilai Temple. Stop halfway to overlook the magnificent Omega-shaped river bend of the Jinsha River Great Bend, and enjoy panoramic snow peaks and alpine meadow landscapes at Baima Snow Mountain viewing platform. Arrive at Feilai Temple in the afternoon and settle down to adapt to the plateau altitude. In the evening, stroll around Feilai Temple viewing platform, overlook the thirteen peaks of Meili Snow Mountain, and wait for the beautiful sunset glow over the snow-capped mountains.
Day 2 Feilai Temple to Xidang to Yubeng Village – Enter the Hidden Land
Get up early to the viewing platform and witness the stunning golden sunrise over Meili Snow Mountain, as the sacred Kawakarpo Peak is dyed brilliant golden by the morning sun. In the morning, drive to Xidang Village, the starting point of Yubeng trekking, then transfer to scenic off-road vehicle crossing Nanzong Pass and head directly to Upper Yubeng Village to reserve physical strength easily. After checking in and having lunch, take a good rest to adapt to the altitude of 3100 meters. In the afternoon, take a gentle walk around Upper Yubeng Village, wander among Tibetan wooden houses, prayer flags and highland barley fields, and admire Meili Snow Mountain up close while feeling the quiet and leisurely atmosphere of the mountain village.
Day 3 Yubeng – Holy Waterfall Pilgrimage & Sacred Mountain Holy Water
Set off from Lower Yubeng Village in the morning for the classic Holy Waterfall trekking route. The round trip is about 8km with low difficulty, friendly to trekking beginners. Walk through primeval forests and stream valleys along the way, accompanied by fluttering prayer flags, and you may encounter local Tibetans on pilgrimage. Reach Yubeng Holy Waterfall, a revered Tibetan pilgrimage site where snowmelt cascades down the cliffs. Walk clockwise around the waterfall three times for blessings, and you may even see a rainbow when the sunlight hits the water mist. Trek back to Lower Yubeng Village in the afternoon, wander freely in the village, experience daily Tibetan life, and taste authentic butter tea and tsampa.
Day 4 Yubeng to Ninong Gorge to Shangri-La – Return Along the Gorge
Wake up early to capture the peaceful morning scenery of snow mountains and Yubeng Village. After breakfast, pack your luggage and hike out of the village along Ninong Gorge. The whole route is mostly downhill with easy walking, passing cliff plank roads, dense primeval forests and the grand Lancang River gorge with wide open views. Arrive at Ninong Village at noon, then transfer to private car and return to Shangri-La. Upon arrival in the evening, you will be transferred to the airport or railway station to end the journey.
