City: Guangzhou
This food experience covers three immersive Cantonese dining activities for international visitors, showing the philosophy of Cantonese food: fresh ingredients, light taste and respect for natural flavours. The first session is a Cantonese Dim Sum Cooking Class. Dim sum is the iconic morning tea culture of Guangzhou, deeply embedded in local people's daily life. Under the guidance of experienced local Cantonese chefs, participants learn to make classic snacks including shrimp dumplings, siu mai and egg tarts, mastering the traditional folding, wrapping and steaming techniques. After cooking, visitors can taste the food they made by themselves.

Next is the Xiguan Old Street Food Tour. Our bilingual food guide leads the group through ancient alleyways hidden in old Guangzhou, introducing the history behind each snack. Travellers taste iconic local treats: creamy boat congee, silky double-skin milk pudding, spicy beef offal with radish and traditional Cantonese herbal tea. Our guide explains how these snacks developed alongside the life of Xiguan residents over generations.
The third activity is a Cantonese Herbal Tea Workshop. Herbal tea is a key part of Lingnan health culture, designed to adapt to the hot and humid southern climate. Guests learn about traditional Chinese herbal medicine formulas, recognise different natural herbs and brew their own cup of cooling herbal tea. Participants will understand the simple health philosophy of traditional Cantonese daily life.
PandaStudyTour selects clean, time-honoured local eateries and strictly controls food hygiene. All cooking sessions include fresh ingredients and printed English recipe handouts so visitors can try making Cantonese food back home. This food tour is ideal for food-loving foreign adult groups and cultural travel delegations. We can easily add this food experience into your custom China travel or study tour itinerary.
