City: Guangzhou
This academic field study is designed for overseas student groups to complete structured cultural research projects, combining on-site investigation, document reading and artisan interviews. The first research module focuses on the Maritime Silk Road. Students visit the Thirteen-Hong Museum together with the Nanhai No.1 Shipwreck Museum. They view ancient exported porcelain, silk and trade relics, collect first-hand historical materials on ancient overseas trade, porcelain exports and Sino-foreign commercial exchanges. Students will discuss how Guangzhou connected China with Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe hundreds of years ago, and use these materials to finish their Maritime Silk Road research papers.

The second module is Lingnan architectural field survey. The delegation travels to Shawan Ancient Town to investigate wok-ear roof ancestral halls and traditional Cantonese clan settlements. Local cultural tutors explain the climate-adaptive design of Lingnan buildings, which are built to cope with hot and rainy weather. They also carry out on-site architectural surveys at Chen Clan Academy and Xiguan large houses, recording building structures, decorative art and regional architectural characteristics with photos and field notes.
The third research module is Cantonese intangible heritage fieldwork. Students visit Guangcai porcelain and Guangxiu embroidery master workshops, conducting guided interviews with folk artisans. They learn about the inheritance challenges of traditional crafts and collect first-hand materials for cultural heritage research. At the end of the whole programme, all student groups hold an international sharing forum to present their field investigation reports and exchange cross-cultural research findings.
PandaStudyTour arranges professional cultural researchers as tutors, provides printed research worksheets and supports the issuance of official study tour certificates after completing the project. We can adjust the research depth and tasks according to the age group of students, from high school to university level. This field research programme perfectly matches the academic requirements of overseas high school and university cultural study tour delegations.
