Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive Taiyuan · Civilization Theme Briefing

Arrival and check-in. Evening lecture: Yellow River civilization origin, northern agricultural culture and the rise of Jin merchants. Overnight Taiyuan.

Day 2: Transfer to Pingyao · Ancient City Humanistic Study

Travel to Pingyao. Visit Rishengchang, ancient streets and traditional merchant houses. Students learn how ancient transportation, river economy and regional resources supported Shanxi’s commercial prosperity.

Day 3: Pingyao Folk Culture & Craft Experience

Morning ancient city cultural scavenger hunt. Afternoon intangible heritage workshop: paper cutting or lacquerware making. Evening free cultural observation and journal writing.

Day 4: Pingyao → Hukou Waterfall Geography Field Study

Drive to Hukou Waterfall. Field study of the world’s largest yellow waterfall landscape. Observe river flow, terrain drop and sediment characteristics. Learn the formation principle of waterfalls and local climate features. Evening stay near Hukou.

Day 5: Ecological Study & Return + Departure

Morning visit Yellow River ecological protection exhibition area. Students discuss the relationship between natural environment and human civilization. Return to Taiyuan for closing sharing and departure.
