Destinations: M50 Art District, Power Station of Art
This art-themed winter camp is tailored for international students studying fine art, graphic design and contemporary visual arts. Shanghai is China's hub of modern and contemporary art, blending traditional Chinese artistic genes with global avant-garde creation. Winter's soft light and fewer visitors create a calm atmosphere for gallery viewing, art discussion and creative making. Students will visit iconic art spaces including M50 Creative Art District, Power Station of Art, Shanghai Art Museum and independent gallery districts. They will meet local artists, observe how Chinese creators combine traditional ink, folk symbols and modern media. The program balances art appreciation, aesthetic analysis and hands-on creation: students attend ink wash, mixed media and paper art workshops, develop original artworks, and hold a student exhibition at camp closing. Through comparing Eastern and Western contemporary art ideas, participants build cross-cultural artistic vision and gain first-hand understanding of China's modern art development.
