Tailored for international students interested in science, engineering and innovation, this Xi'an STEAM winter camp creates a unique comparison between ancient Chinese engineering genius and China's modern high-tech development. Xi'an is not only an ancient capital but also a major base for China's aerospace, material science and advanced manufacturing. During this winter program, students will visit prestigious universities including Xi'an Jiaotong University and Northwestern Polytechnical University, exchange with Chinese university students and researchers. They explore ancient engineering marvels such as the city wall and terracotta bronze craftsmanship, then contrast them with visits to local high-tech factories and aerospace exhibition halls. Interactive STEAM workshops, design challenges and peer academic exchange help students understand how science evolved from ancient times into today’s cutting-edge innovation. The winter low-season schedule allows longer campus visits and more direct Q&A sessions with engineers and scholars.
Day 1: Arrival in Xi'an & STEAM Camp Opening Airport arrival and hotel check-in. Winter safety briefing and camp theme introduction: ancient engineering vs modern tech. Opening ceremony, team grouping and distribution of STEAM project materials.
Day 2: Xi’an Ancient City Wall Engineering Study Morning study tour of Xi’an City Wall. Educators explain ancient structural engineering, material selection and defensive design. Students complete measurement and observation tasks about ancient construction techniques. Afternoon discussion comparing ancient building technology with modern civil engineering.
Day 3: Top University Campus Visit & Academic Exchange Visit Xi’an Jiaotong University or Northwestern Polytechnical University. Tour campus, library and exhibition halls. Join exchange seminar with local university students, discussing university education, research topics and youth innovation in China.
Day 4: Aerospace Museum & Aircraft Model Workshop Morning aerospace museum guided tour, learn aviation and space technology development in China. Afternoon hands-on aircraft model assembly workshop, students build and test their model planes under mentor guidance.
Day 5: New Energy Industry Enterprise Visit Visit local advanced manufacturing or new energy vehicle enterprise. Tour production lines, listen to engineers’ introduction about green energy, intelligent manufacturing and future technology trends. Students prepare interview questions for technical experts.
Day 6: STEAM Group Innovation Workshop & Project Polishing STEAM mentor leads group design challenge. Teams combine inspiration from ancient Chinese engineering and modern technology to design creative solutions. Students prepare slides and practice presentation skills for final showcase.
Day 7: Innovation Showcase, Closing & Departure Team project defense and achievement exhibition. Award innovation certificates and camp completion certificates. Learning feedback session. Private airport transfer for departure.
