Day 1-2: Urumqi Arrival & Heavenly Lake Arrive in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang. Settle in and explore the International Grand Bazaar to experience Uyghur culture, taste roasted lamb skewers and naan.
Drive 1.5 hours to Tianchi Lake (Heavenly Lake). Hike along the lakeshore, admire the snow-capped Tianshan Mountains reflected in the crystal-clear water, and visit the Taoist temple on the bank. Return to Urumqi in the evening.
Day 3-5: Urumqi → Kanas Lake (Flight + Car)
Take a 1-hour flight from Urumqi to Altay, then drive 3 hours to Kanas Lake Scenic Area.
Explore Kanas Lake, known as the "Switzerland of China". Take a boat tour to look for the legendary "Kanas Monster", hike to the Observation Deck for a bird's-eye view of the lake and surrounding forests.
Visit nearby Hemu Village, a Tuva ethnic village with wooden houses. Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the snow-capped mountains and sea of clouds. Experience Tuva folk customs, such as horse riding and drinking homemade milk tea.
Day 6-7: Kanas → Burqin → Urumqi (Car + Flight)
Drive 2 hours to Burqin and visit the Colorful Beach at sunset. The Danxia landform with red and yellow rocks contrasts sharply with the blue Erqis River, creating a stunning landscape.
Take a flight back to Urumqi in the afternoon. On the second day, explore the Red Hill Park for a panoramic view of Urumqi city.
Day 8: Departure
