Beijing School Tour

Beijing School Tour

Destinations: Forbidden City, Great Wall, Peking Opera

Tour Features:

Beijing is China's lesson plan in one city: the imperial power of the Forbidden City, the engineering miracle of the Great Wall, the rituals of the Temple of Heaven, and the living culture of the hutongs. This 7-day, single-city school tour keeps logistics simple while packing the essentials into every day - with a hands-on Peking Opera workshop, a morning inside a Chinese school, and a high-speed rail excursion to Tianjin's Ancient Culture Street. No internal flights, no long transfers: first-time student groups land, learn and depart from one gateway city.

Optional Extensions

Itinerary:

Day 1 - Arrival & First Impressions: Meet your bilingual tour educator at Beijing Capital International Airport and transfer to the hotel. After settling in, enjoy a welcome dinner of Peking duck, then take an evening stroll through the Qianmen area - the lantern-lit historic street at the foot of Tiananmen - to shake off the journey and set the tone for the week.

Day 2 - The Forbidden City: A full guided morning through the Forbidden City, China's imperial palace for 500 years: the Meridian Gate, the marble terraces of the Three Great Halls and the imperial gardens. Your guide decodes the roof hierarchy, the ridge beasts and the symbolism of the axis as you walk. Climb Jingshan Hill afterwards for the classic rooftop panorama, and spend the afternoon at Tiananmen Square, hearing how the old capital became the modern nation's heart.

Day 3 - The Great Wall: Drive to the Mutianyu section (about 1.5 hours), the most scenic and student-friendly stretch: ride the cable car up, hike the restored battlements and watchtowers, and descend by optional toboggan. An on-wall history session covers why the Wall was built, how it was constructed, and why it never quite worked as planned. Afternoon at the Olympic Park, with the Bird's Nest and Water Cube as a bridge from ancient to modern engineering.

Day 4 - Rituals & Opera: Morning at the Temple of Heaven, where emperors prayed for harvests: walk the Echo Wall, stand on the Circular Mound's centre stone, and learn the "round Heaven, square Earth" cosmology. Afternoon through the hutongs of Shichahai: a rickshaw ride, a courtyard house visit and tea in a siheyuan. Evening: a full Peking Opera performance at a historic theatre.

Day 5 - School Exchange & National Museum: Morning inside a partner Beijing school: shadow a class, join a joint activity (art, sports or music), and meet your Chinese buddies for the first time. Afternoon at the National Museum of China, whose galleries tell the dynastic story from bronzes to the Qing court; end with a group debrief on what the week has taught so far.

Day 6 - Tianjin Day Trip: Board the high-speed rail (30 minutes) to Tianjin. Walk the Ancient Culture Street with its folk-art shops, visit the Clay Figurine Zhang studio and museum, and try a quick dough-figurine or paper-cutting session. Return to Beijing by rail in the late afternoon; farewell dinner.

Day 7 - Departure: Free morning for last-minute shopping or a final walk, then transfer to the airport for departure.
