City: Guilin
Longji Rice Terraces is a world-famous agricultural wonder built by the Zhuang ethnic people over 600 years. This full-day rural immersion programme takes overseas groups away from city sightseeing into the mountain villages of the Zhuang minority. Your English guide will introduce how local people carved terraces on steep karst mountain slopes to grow rice, a brilliant example of human adaptation to mountain terrain.

Students join real farming activities in the terraced paddy fields: seedling transplanting, weeding, and catching fish in the rice paddies. After farm work, we visit a local Zhuang family home. Participants learn to cook bamboo-tube rice and sticky rice cakes over an open fire, taste home-made Zhuang dishes. We also experience traditional folk culture: learning to throw embroidered hydrangea balls, dance the bamboo pole dance and sing folk Zhuang mountain songs with local villagers.
PandaStudyTour arranges round-trip group transportation from Guilin, book village access, arrange bilingual ethnic culture guides and local Zhuang host families. We design teamwork farming tasks for student groups and prepare ethnic culture briefing materials in advance. This rural ethnic experience can be integrated into your Guilin cultural study tour or summer camp, letting international students experience China’s mountain farming culture and minority village life first-hand.
