City: Beijing
Our Peking Opera Show & Hands-on Workshop lets your student group explore China’s national opera, a treasured intangible cultural heritage. The programme starts with a live Peking Opera performance, featuring vibrant costumes, elaborate facial masks, graceful water sleeve movements, acrobatic fighting scenes and classic story excerpts selected to suit young international audiences. After the stage show, the interactive workshop begins. Under the guidance of professional opera artists, students learn the symbolic meaning of mask colours: red represents loyalty, black stands for integrity, white signals wickedness. Every student gets to paint their own Peking Opera mask as a personal souvenir. They may also try basic opera gestures, walking poses and water sleeve movements, experiencing the stylised performing art first-hand. Our bilingual instructor explains the history, character roles and artistic rules of Peking Opera in easy-to-understand language suitable for all age levels.
PandaStudyTour can arrange this full Peking Opera package, covering theatre tickets, workshop materials, professional artists and group transportation. This art experience can be customised and embedded into your China study tour, Beijing school exchange or Mandarin summer camp itinerary. We can adjust the workshop duration and activity difficulty for primary, middle, high school and university delegations. If your schedule is tight, we can shorten the workshop; for groups with deeper cultural learning goals, we can extend the session and add backstage visits. It is a wonderful activity to help international students understand traditional Chinese performing arts.
