Riverside Tai Chi & Long Spout Teapot Folk Interaction

City: Chengdu

The Riverside Tai Chi & Long Spout Teapot Folk Interaction brings your group to the quiet banks of the Funan River, where local Chengdu residents gather every morning for outdoor exercise and traditional leisure activities. This activity lets international visitors experience two iconic elements of Sichuan’s folk culture: Tai Chi and the spectacular long spout teapot tea art. The experience starts with watching local elders practise gentle Tai Chi movements beside the river. Under the guidance of a professional Tai Chi master, students learn simplified basic postures, focusing on slow breathing and balanced movement, and understand the philosophy of harmony between body and mind behind this ancient Chinese martial art.

Long Spout Teapot Folk Interaction

After the Tai Chi session, participants will enjoy a live demonstration of the long spout teapot tea ceremony, a precious Sichuan intangible cultural heritage. The master swings the one-metre-long copper teapot, performing elegant and dramatic pouring movements to serve tea without spilling. Students can try to hold the teapot and attempt simple pouring gestures under supervision. Everyone will taste freshly brewed local jasmine tea and learn about Sichuan tea culture and the history of tea houses in Chengdu.

PandaStudyTour fully organises this riverside folk activity. We select safe riverside activity spaces, arrange bilingual Tai Chi and tea art masters, prepare all tea sets and refreshments, and conduct pre-activity briefings for your group. We can adjust the activity intensity and teaching depth for different age groups, from younger primary students to university and adult delegations. This folk interaction can be embedded into your Chengdu study tour, school exchange or Mandarin summer camp itinerary. It creates a peaceful cross-cultural experience for overseas visitors to discover Chengdu’s well-known leisure culture.
