Tea Picking & Hand-Rolling Classes in Guizhou

City: Guangzhou

Guizhou is one of China's great tea provinces - home to Meitan Cuiya, Duyun Maojian and countless high-mountain gardens. Tea picking is a seasonal, meditative craft: you walk the terraced rows, select "one bud, one leaf," and fill a bamboo basket, then carry your harvest to the workshop.

With a tea master, you then experience the making process with your own hands: withering the leaves, stir-frying them in a heated wok (the famous green-tea "killing green" step), rolling them to shape, and finally brewing the tea you made and comparing its aroma and taste. Sessions run 2–4 hours depending on season, and you leave with your own small bag of tea.

Tea Picking & Hand-Rolling Classes in Guizhou

Tea connects students to Chinese daily life, geography and agriculture - and the wok-frying step is a memorable chemistry lesson in heat and oxidation.

How PandaStudyTour delivers it: We arrange visits to working tea gardens and processing workshops (Meitan, Duyun, or terraced gardens near Xijiang), provide tea-master-led instruction with bilingual explanation, include the tasting ceremony, and adjust the season and route to your travel dates.

Q&A

Q: When is the best season for tea picking? A: Spring (March–May) is prime; summer and autumn gardens still offer picking and processing experiences.

Q: Do we drink what we make? A: Yes - you brew and taste your own tea at the end of the session.

Q: Can we take tea home? A: Yes, each participant leaves with a small package of their own tea.

Q: Is the garden walk difficult? A: No - terraced gardens are gentle walks; we can adjust routes for seniors and small children.

Q: Can this replace a museum tea ceremony? A: It is complementary - we often combine picking with a traditional gongfu tea ceremony.
