City:
Our Wukang Road & Hengfu Historical Zone City Walk invites international student and adult groups to explore the romantic, tree-lined streets of Shanghai’s former French Concession. This district is famous for well-preserved garden villas, old apartment buildings and century-old plane trees, representing the unique blend of Chinese and Western architectural styles that shaped old Shanghai. Your English-speaking guide will lead the group to visit Wukang Mansion, the iconic boat-shaped apartment building, together with hidden heritage villas and old neighbourhoods scattered along Hengfu Road.

During the walk, students will learn the history of the concession era, the stories of famous writers and intellectuals who once lived here, and compare the design features of European-style villas and traditional Chinese courtyard houses. We can design observation tasks for students to sketch building details or complete a simple architecture scavenger hunt. This activity moves beyond typical sightseeing, helping visitors understand how Shanghai became a meeting point of Eastern and Western cultures in modern history.
PandaStudyTour manages all logistics for this city walk. We plan safe pedestrian routes, arrange experienced English local guides, prepare pre-trip cultural briefings, and set up suitable rest stops. This walking tour can be integrated into your custom Shanghai study tour, cultural exchange programme or Mandarin summer camp. It can also be combined with a visit to Xuhui Art Museum to form a full half-day heritage experience, allowing overseas visitors to discover the elegant, quieter side of Shanghai away from the crowded commercial landmarks.
