City: Xian
The Xi'an City Wall, the largest and best-preserved ancient city wall in China, offers a fantastic outdoor learning experience for overseas study tour groups. Built during the Ming Dynasty, this 14-kilometre rampart encircles the old city centre of Xi'an. When cycling along the wall, students enjoy panoramic views that contrast the ancient grey-tiled courtyard houses and modern high-rise buildings. Our English guide will host an on-site ancient city defence class, introducing the design of watchtowers, ramparts, archer holes and gate towers. Students will learn how the city defence system worked in wartime, and explore the urban planning of Chang'an in the Tang Dynasty, including the traditional square neighbourhood layout known as "fangshi".

We can design interactive learning tasks for students during the cycling activity, such as group observation challenges and history quizzes, turning the bike ride into a lively educational activity. We offer flexible route options: short easy segments for younger students, or longer full-section cycling routes for teenagers and adult groups. Rest stops and photo viewing points are planned along the route.
PandaStudyTour provides one-stop organisation for this city wall cycling experience. We arrange group bicycle rentals, professional English-speaking tour leaders, safety briefings and first-aid support on site. This activity can be paired with visits to the Bell Tower, Drum Tower and Muslim Quarter to form a full half-day or one-day old Xi'an cultural itinerary. We can tailor the schedule to fit your overall study tour plan, and integrate this outdoor heritage activity into your China school exchange or Mandarin summer camp, helping your students truly understand the city planning and military culture of ancient China.
