The China Academy of Art (CAA) is China's first comprehensive national institution of higher learning in the arts. Jointly established by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, it was also the first institution of higher learning to offer a degree program in design. It is the birthplace of China's earliest art revolutionary groups, home to the country's only State Key Discipline in Fine Arts, and the only Chinese art university whose academic credentials are recognized by UNESCO. Founded in 1928, the academy was originally known as the "National Academy of Art". In 1929, it was renamed the "National Hangzhou College of Fine Arts"; in 1938, it reverted to the name "National College of Fine Arts"; in 1950, it became the "East China Branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts"; in 1958, it was renamed the "Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts"; and in 1993, it was renamed the "China Academy of Art".

Have lunch at the exclusive campus Waterside Mountain Residence restaurant. Taste authentic student meals, experience daily catering and leisure life of art students at China's top art university.
Step3: Visit Folk Art Museum & China International Design Museum
Take guided tours of two core art venues. The Folk Art Museum displays traditional Chinese folk handicrafts and life-oriented folk art works. The China International Design Museum collects classic design masterpieces worldwide, helping visitors understand the integration of folk art and modern design. (Note: The museums are closed every Monday.)
Step4: Aesthetic Practical Lesson — Outdoor Sketching Class
Join a professional sketching course under the guidance of CAA art teachers. Sketch unique campus buildings, ancient trees and waterside scenery on site. Combine observation, composition and painting practice to experience the creation logic of Chinese fine arts. Participants need to bring their own drawing tools and stools.
