Itinerary:

Day 1: Guilin City Entry – Karst Cave Geological Initiation

Start your academic journey with karst geology enlightenment in downtown Guilin. In the afternoon, visit Reed Flute Cave, a 5A-level core karst research base favored by global study groups. Under the guidance of professional geological tutors, you will learn the formation principles of stalactites and stalagmites formed over hundreds of millions of years. You will also complete hands-on field work including cave temperature and humidity measurement and dripping rate recording, and fill in professional cave observation records. In the evening, explore the Guilin Stele Forest at Diecai Mountain, experience the intangible cultural heritage of simple stone carving rubbing, and learn about Song Dynasty stone carving calligraphy and traditional Chinese culture.

Day 2: World-Class Lijiang Peak Forest Geological Research | Guilin to Yangshuo

Depart in the morning and take a standard research-themed 3-star cruise along the Lijiang River for a long-distance landscape investigation. During the 4.5-hour cruise, you will observe typical karst peak forest landforms along the route, including the iconic Nine-Horse Painting Mountain and 20-yuan Banknote Viewing Point. You will use a compass to record mountain trend data and complete karst landform research manuals. After docking, wander the ancient streets of Xingping Ancient Town, visit traditional Lijiang fishing villages, and learn about the ancient cormorant fishing intangible cultural heritage. In the evening, check into a homestay in Yangshuo county. You can optionally attend the Impression LiuSanjie real landscape performance to appreciate original Zhuang ethnic songs and dances.

Day 3: Yangshuo Ecological Exploration – Yulong River & Cave Exploration

Experience original ecological landscapes and complete ecological monitoring tasks in Yangshuo. In the morning, take a pure manual bamboo raft drifting on the golden section of Yulong River. You will investigate subtropical crops and aquatic vegetation along the river, and conduct simple water quality detection experiments including pH value testing and plankton observation. In the afternoon, ride electric-assisted bikes to traverse the Ten-Mile Gallery to save physical strength, then visit Silver Cave to study large-scale cave structures and complete a mini gypsum cave model production. In the evening, explore ancient architectures in Jiuxian Ancient Village, learn to make local Yangshuo cakes with villagers, and experience traditional rural life.

Day 4: Yangshuo to Longji Terraces – Ancient Farming Civilization Experience

Head to Longji Rice Terraces in the morning and arrive at Ping'an Village and Yao Ethnic Village at noon, checking into a traditional Zhuang wooden homestay in the scenic area. In the afternoon, take a gentle hike along the flat terrace viewing plank road led by local Yao guides. You will use levels to measure terrace slopes, understand the ancient mountain irrigation wisdom of local ancestors, and participate in seasonal farming experiences including spring transplanting or autumn harvesting. You will also visit traditional Yao residential buildings and complete simple Yao embroidery handcrafts. In the evening, DIY bamboo rice with local farmers, join an ethnic folklore sharing session, and listen to authentic Yao folk songs.

Day 5: Terrace Sunrise & Graduation Closing

You can voluntarily watch the stunning sunrise over the Longji Terraces in the early morning; students who prefer to rest can sort out daily research materials at the homestay. In the morning, visit the official certified Longji Tea Culture Base to learn about the whole industrial chain of alpine cloud tea, and complete hand-made tea frying and tea bag production. Return to Guilin city at noon for the closing ceremony. Each group will deliver a PPT report on karst geological research results and farming practice insights. All participants will receive an official study tour certificate, before finishing the trip with drop-off service.
