Destinations: FAST Telescope, Huangguoshu Falls, Ethnic Villages
This journey brings together the extremes that make Guizhou unique: the world's largest single-dish radio telescope, the biggest waterfall in Asia, and the living culture of China's Miao and Dong peoples. You begin with a full day at Huangguoshu Waterfall, where the same karst geology that created FAST's perfect natural bowl carved Asia's largest waterfall. Then you travel to the heart of the telescope zone at Pingtang, visiting the FAST science museum and standing on the viewing platform above the 500-metre dish that listens to the universe. From there the journey turns human: you climb to the Miao villages of Xijiang, meet silversmiths and embroiderers, then cross to the Dong villages of Zhaoxing, where drum towers rise above rice terraces and the UNESCO-recognised Grand Song fills the night. Astronomy, geology, ecology, anthropology and music - a concentration of learning experiences few regions on Earth can match.

Practical information
Day 1 - Arrival in Guiyang. Airport transfer and check-in in the provincial capital. In the evening, an orientation walk and welcome dinner of Guizhou's famously sour and spicy cuisine - a first taste of the province's distinctive food culture.
Day 2 - Huangguoshu Waterfall. A full day at Huangguoshu, Asia's largest waterfall (77.8 m high, 101 m wide), including the famous walk behind the falling water, the Tianxingqiao karst garden and the wide Doutang Falls. Your guide explains the karst geology that shaped the falls - the same landscape that later made FAST possible. Return to Guiyang for the night.
Day 3 - Guiyang to the FAST Telescope Zone. Drive south to Pingtang (about 2.5 hours). In the afternoon, visit the International Astronomical Experience Centre, with its interactive exhibits on radio astronomy, the history of the telescope and China's search for extraterrestrial intelligence. In the evening, stay in the International Astronomy Town, where the streets glow with models of planets and telescopes.
Day 4 - FAST: The Eye of Heaven. Board the shuttle into the Five-hundred-metre Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) scenic area and climb to the viewing platform that overlooks the giant dish, set in its natural karst basin like a silver eye turned to the sky. Note that visitors leave all electronic devices - phones, cameras, watches - in lockers before entering the core zone, a rule that makes the silence and scale unforgettable. In the afternoon, drive east toward the Miao highlands of southeastern Guizhou (about 4 hours), arriving at Xijiang in the evening.
Day 5 - Xijiang Miao Village. A day in Xijiang, the world's largest Miao village. Explore the thousand households stacked on the hillsides, visit a silversmith's workshop and watch Miao embroidery being worked, then share a traditional long-table feast. In the evening, the village terraces and wooden houses light up across the valley - one of China's most photographed sights.
Day 6 - Xijiang to Zhaoxing Dong Village. Drive to the Dong country of Liping County (about 3 hours) and the famous village of Zhaoxing, with its five wind-and-rain bridges and five drum towers. In the afternoon, try batik and natural dyeing in a village workshop. In the evening, attend a performance of the Grand Song - the polyphonic choir music recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage - sung by the villagers themselves.
Day 7 - Rice Terraces & Departure. An early morning hike to Tang'an village on the terraced hillsides above Zhaoxing - mist, rice paddies and drum towers at sunrise. Then transfer to the nearby Congjiang high-speed rail station and glide back to Guiyang North in about 1.5 hours for your onward flight.
