Xi'an is the world-famous starting point of the ancient Silk Road, witnessing thousands of years of Eurasian cultural and trade exchanges. This 6-day themed camp focuses on cross-cultural communication and ancient trade civilization, leading international students to deeply explore the historical legacy of the Silk Road. Students will attend professional Silk Road history lectures, learn the stories of ancient merchants and cultural exchanges between East and West, visit classic Silk Road cultural landmarks, and participate in traditional ancient trade handicraft creation. Itinerary:

Day 1: Camp Arrival & Opening Orientation

• Morning: Student arrival at Xi'an designated camp site. Our multilingual camp staff complete check‑in, room allocation, distribute camp kits including activity notebooks, stationery and camp safety handbook. Parents / group leaders attend a short welcome briefing.
• Midday: Welcome group lunch with camp mentors.
• Afternoon: Comprehensive safety orientation covering campus rules, emergency protocols, daily schedule, health notice and code of conduct for heritage‑site visits. Followed by ice‑breaking group games for international students to build team rapport. Short introductory Mandarin session focusing on practical daily phrases for camp life and Xi'an travel scenarios.
• Evening: Opening camp assembly. Brief introductory presentation: "What was the Ancient Silk Road?" to set the theme for the whole programme. Light group dinner, free organised leisure time. Overnight at camp accommodation.

Day 2: Silk Road Foundation Course & Mandarin Immersion

• Morning: Themed academic lecture delivered by professional tutors. Students learn the geographical scope of the Silk Road, key cities along the trade routes, representative goods traded between East and West, and classic cross‑cultural exchange case studies. Students take notes in study journals and join guided Q&A discussion.
• Midday: Group lunch.
• Afternoon: Immersive Mandarin training integrated with Silk‑Road‑related vocabulary and dialogues. Students practice words for handicrafts, ancient trade, cultural relics and simple conversational topics about cross‑cultural stories. Small‑group exercises and role‑play activities are arranged.
• Evening: Documentary screening of Silk Road civilisation, followed by small‑group reflection. Students jot down initial questions they hope to answer during upcoming site visits. Overnight at camp accommodation.

Day 3: On‑Site Study — Big Wild Goose Pagoda & Tang‑style Cultural Zone (Part 1)

• Morning: Depart camp by private arranged transport for Big Wild Goose Pagoda scenic area. Guided in‑depth study tour led by professional tutors. Students learn the story of the monk Xuanzang, his arduous journey to India for Buddhist scriptures, and how Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built to store these precious texts. Students observe pagoda architecture, stone carvings and historical relics on‑site, and complete worksheet tasks.
• Midday: Group lunch at a local restaurant featuring traditional Shaanxi dishes.
• Afternoon: Explore surrounding Silk‑Road‑themed cultural blocks and Tang‑style public squares. Tutors explain how religion, music, art and exotic goods travelled along the Silk Road into ancient Chang'an (today's Xi'an). Students compare historical records with what they observe on‑site.
• Evening: Return to camp. Review session: students share observations and impressions from today's field trip. Mandarin review practice. Overnight at camp accommodation.

Day 4: On‑Site Deep Dive — Silk‑Road Culture & Local Student Exchange Activity (Part 2)

• Morning: Return to Big Wild Goose Pagoda complex for themed ritual‑style cultural experience activity. Students participate in simulated ancient scripture‑respecting ceremony and cultural observation activities, to better understand the spiritual influence brought by Silk‑Road cultural transmission. Continue site‑based learning tasks and group photo session.
• Midday: Local group lunch.
• Afternoon: Interactive exchange activity with local Chinese middle‑high‑school peers. Mixed‑nationality small groups discuss topics: "What goods and ideas would you trade on the ancient Silk Road?", "How do different cultures learn from each other". Facilitated group dialogue improves cross‑cultural communication practice.
• Evening: Back to camp. Group discussion to sort out field‑study harvest. Students begin drafting preliminary ideas for their handicraft‑creation project for Day 5. Overnight at camp accommodation.

Day 5: Ancient‑Trade Handicraft Workshop & Cross‑Cultural Sharing

• Morning: Hands‑on ancient‑trade handicraft‑making workshop. Under guidance of folk‑craft instructors, students create handicrafts inspired by Silk‑Road traded artefacts, such as silk‑pattern printing, paper‑craft of exotic motifs from Eurasian trade, or decorative craft pieces echoing Tang‑dynasty aesthetics. All workshop materials are provided. Students keep their finished works as camp souvenirs.
• Midday: Group lunch.
• Afternoon: Team‑based cultural discussion and cross‑cultural experience sharing seminar. Each small group presents reflections: what they have learned about ancient merchants, cultural integration and the value of mutual respect between civilisations. Tutors give feedback and guide students to organise their full‑camp learning outcomes in personal study journals.
• Evening: Rehearsal preparation for next‑day group‑achievement showcase. Students prepare short speeches or display boards using notes and handicraft outputs. Overnight at camp accommodation.

Day 6: Academic Closing, Achievement Showcase, Certificate Awarding & Departure

• Morning: Final academic summary session. Tutors recap key knowledge points of the whole Silk‑Road exploration camp, connect classroom lectures, site visits and handicraft‑workshop experiences into a complete learning framework.
• Midday: Camp closing group lunch.
