Destinations: Zhangjiajie, Guilin
This 6-day landscape comparison study tour is specially designed for geography class student groups. Students will study two different UNESCO world natural heritage landforms: karst peaks in Guilin and quartz sandstone peak forest in Zhangjiajie. By comparing the two unique geological systems, students can visually understand differences in rock type, erosion process and landscape shaping. This itinerary creates a powerful hands-on geography classroom, with river cruising, cave exploration and mountain hiking.
Day1: Arrive Guilin, Yangshuo transfer Arrive Guilin airport, transfer to Yangshuo. Visit West Street, overview of karst landscape in Guangxi.
Day2: Li River cruise & karst field study Cruise along Li River, observe limestone karst peaks rising from river valley. Guide explains karst formation. Students sketch landscape and record observations.
Day3: Reed Flute Cave exploration, then high-speed train to Zhangjiajie Morning tour Reed Flute Cave, study limestone stalactites. Afternoon take high-speed train to Zhangjiajie. Overnight Zhangjiajie.
Day4: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Yuanjiajie & Golden Whip Brook Explore Wulingyuan. Observe vertical sandstone pillars. Compare rock texture and shape with karst peaks they saw in Guilin.
Day5: Tianmen Mountain & Huanglong Cave Morning: Tianmen Mountain natural arch study. Afternoon Huanglong Cave, compare cave structure with Reed Flute Cave. Group discussion on geological differences.
Day6: Final landscape comparison sharing, departure Students finish their comparison report. Transfer to Zhangjiajie airport for departure.
