City: Luoyang
Erlitou Site is widely recognised as the capital of the legendary Xia Dynasty, the first dynasty in Chinese history, known as the earliest “China” capital city. This archaeological study tour brings overseas student groups to trace the origin of Chinese civilisation beyond written history.

Under the guidance of a bilingual archaeology tutor, the group tours the museum’s bronze ritual vessels, jade ceremonial artefacts and palace foundation relics. Students learn how archaeologists date ancient city ruins and reconstruct the layout of early imperial capitals. The most popular activity is the simulated archaeological dig: participants carefully sift soil, dig out replica pottery and bronze fragments, then piece together broken artefacts and practice basic cultural relic restoration skills. We also design field research tasks: mapping the ancient city layout and comparing the Xia Dynasty palace system with later Tang royal architecture.
PandaStudyTour completes group reservations in advance, arranges professional archaeology educators, prepares excavation kits, replica relics and field notebooks. We adjust activity difficulty for primary, secondary and university groups. This origin-civilisation study programme can be integrated into your Luoyang root-seeking study tour, helping international students understand the birth of early Chinese state culture.
