White Horse Temple Buddhist Culture & Sino-foreign Religious Exchange Tour
White Horse Temple was built in 68 AD during the Eastern Han Dynasty, known as the cradle of Chinese Buddhism and the first official Buddhist temple in China. This cultural study tour focuses on how Buddhism traveled from ancient India to Luoyang along the Silk Road and took root in Chinese society.

Your bilingual religious history guide tells the story of two Indian monks who brought Buddhist scriptures to China on white horses, and explains how Buddhist scriptures were first translated here. The group visits the ancient scripture translation halls, ancient pagodas and international Buddhist halls built by Myanmar, Thailand and India, showing how Luoyang remained a centre of cross-border religious communication for 2,000 years. Students compare Indian Buddhist art with Chinese Buddhist sculpture, and discuss how foreign religious culture was localised and blended with traditional Chinese Confucian and Taoist culture. We also arrange a short meditation experience inside the quiet temple courtyard.
PandaStudyTour books group entry tickets, designs a quiet walking route away from crowds, arranges bilingual cultural guides and arranges short religious culture discussion sessions. This half-day temple study can be combined with the Silk Road city walking tour, offering overseas visitors an in-depth view of ancient Sino-foreign cultural integration.
