Food is the soul of Sichuan culture, and this Sichuan Cuisine Cooking Class held at the Sichuan Cuisine Museum combines food history learning and hands-on cooking experience for overseas groups. The activity starts with a guided museum tour. Accompanied by an English-speaking food guide, your group explores collections of ancient cooking utensils, learns the origin of Sichuan peppercorn and chilli, and discovers how Sichuan cuisine developed over thousands of years and became world-famous for its rich, layered flavours. Students can smell and identify different Sichuan spices, and learn the cultural stories behind iconic local dishes.

After the museum tour, participants move into the clean professional kitchen for the cooking workshop. Dressed in chef uniforms, students will learn to cook classic Sichuan dishes such as Mapo Tofu and Kung Pao Chicken under the instruction of local professional chefs. They will learn to prepare ingredients, control seasoning and stir-fry techniques. At the end of the class, everyone can taste the dishes they have personally cooked together. The chef also shares knowledge about Sichuan flavour profiles and local dining customs.
PandaStudyTour fully organises this Sichuan cuisine experience. We pre-book museum tickets and kitchen space, arrange English guides and professional chefs, and prepare all fresh ingredients, cooking equipment and chef uniforms. We offer customised options for vegetarian, halal and allergen-friendly diets to suit different group requirements. This cooking activity can be integrated into your custom Chengdu study tour or cultural exchange itinerary, and can also be combined with a local market visit. It is a highly popular activity for international delegations to explore Sichuan food culture through hands-on practice.
