The 2028 Rongjiang Village Super World Cup, also known as Cun Chao World Cup, is a planned global grassroots football festival to be held in Rongjiang County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, China. It marks the final milestone of the three-phase development strategy of the famous Village Super League (Cun Chao), which rose to global fame in 2023.
Unlike professional football World Cup tournaments, this event is open exclusively to amateur community and village football teams from all over the world. No professional players are allowed. It stays true to Cun Chao's original spirit: organized by local villagers, non-commercial, and free of admission tickets for spectators.
More than just football matches, the 2028 Village Super World Cup will serve as a cross-cultural exchange platform. Between games, visitors can experience Miao and Dong ethnic performances, local handicrafts, and authentic Guizhou rural food. It combines grassroots sports, intangible cultural heritage, and rural revitalization.
Rongjiang has already hosted international friendly matches with teams from dozens of countries ahead of 2028. Football legends including Kaká, Roberto Baggio and Michael Owen have visited and supported this grassroots football project.
